Furano is one of Japans premier ski resort situated in the middle of the famous snow rich region of Hokkaido. Steeped in Japanese snowboard culture and the hub of the snow surf revolution, with and average snowfall of 15 meters per winter this is a snowboarders dream location. We'll be staying in the main town of Furano giving us the option to dip our toes into the hustle and bustle but also within striking distance of the lesser visited areas with a more traditional Japanese vibe, including plenty of visits to local onsens to relax and refresh after a long days riding. Expect endless powder, unbelievable food and amazing Japanese snowboard culture.
This is a slightly longer trip with 10 days riding (9 guided), we'll have splitboards at our disposal to cover all options. From morning resort laps to afternoon splitboard trips to the lesser known areas and a trip up the famous Mount Yotei for unforgettable sea views and a run that will blow your mind. The aim is pure and simple to ride as much powder as possible with the option of night riding just to make sure we maximise every opportunity.
We'll be staying at Natalux Hotel in the middle of Furano for the first 5 night, including breakfast. From there we'll head to more traditional Japanese accommodation at the foot of Asahi Dake. We'll finish up our trip staying near Tokachi Dake a lesser known area with an abundance of splitboarding opportunities. Evening meals will be a mix of sampling the amazing variety of local restaurants, cooking in and grabbing a take away from the food trucks after a night riding session.
Be prepared to ride hard for 10 days as the snow rarely lets up. A good level of fitness is required and at least a couple of weeks of powder riding is recommended to get the most out of this trip. Expect short hikes most days with a few bigger days depending on conditions.
